did you ever watch brady anderson play?

need to look a little beyond the stats with that guy.  a great leadoff hitter.

it's not necessarily looking beyond the stats but looking year-by-year as opposed to glancing over career numbers.  brady anderson was really solid, a three time all star. i consider that to be a great career.  i think if he hadn't struggled with injuries he would have had more big HR years.

but yeah, i think bautista has what it takes to continue to hit big and you don't. we'll see what happens.

It was 80's Night tonight at the Skydome.

I missed the game. Only caught the last inning... But I think they made the Jumbotron to look like an old arcade game.

Jays were rocking the blue pyjamas. Orioles sucked and used their normal uniforms. I was hoping for these:

WTF is with Bautista?!? Another couple of homers tonite. 30 on the season. Really hope Anthopolus (sp) cashes in on this career season. Assume he'd net a pretty decent haul from the Padres or Giants.

Other players who were often
- David Eckstein
- Wally Backman
- Craig Grebeck
- Scott Fletcher
- Robby Thompson
- Basically any scrappy middle infielder

Well, the schedule for August looks like another fun-filled month of the Yankees, Red Sox and Devil Rays.

Gotta love the AL East.

yeah, i mean they have vernon wells until the end of 2014 and he's unlikely to be dealt so unless
they move him to another outfield position this new guy is unlikely to be utilized soon.  although if bautista
leaves at the end of next season there'd be room for him in the outfield.

shift lind to first base and possibly acquire a DH in the off-season? overbay i would think is unlikely to re-sign
with the jays though lind is a surprisingly great fielder so this wouldn't be so out of the question.

There are other videos of Gose out there but here's one that's interesting in that you see him hit an opposite field home run off of Jays 1st rounder from last year Chad Jenkins:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zecOyCwGlf4

The video is a compilation of a few Phillies prospects & the clip of Gose is 16 seconds into the video.

Jays looked awesome tonight against the Yanks.

Ricky Romero was in total control. Bautista with his 33rd.

I just don't want A-Rod to get his 600th against Toronto.

just when folks were starting to grumble about Wells again...he's hit a couple more homers, and at key times....

AND...i notice that some of the jays, wells included, have been paying attention to the fact that the team can now do more than just the long ball. some good key 1 base hits coming from the likes of wells & a few others.

boy do I love it that we finally have some guys like escobar and lewis.  this team is pretty excellent actually. and our pitching is actually rather deadly isn't it? I wouldn't want to be the other team looking at our starters now...there isn't really one where you'd catch a break - marcum, cecil, morrow, romero? good lord. none of those would seem appealing to another team. the best you can hope for is that cito will feel bad for the year that tallet or frasor are having and actually play those guys.

i'm really happy to see the snider hasn't missed a beat. finally that guy is hitting it like they'd hoped.

if we keep the right pieces and they keep working, and a few of those prospects work out? its going to be deadly.

it isn't a popular opinion, but i still believe in Cito. he's had a few bumps, but in general this team has shown a lot more coming around in the last couple of years, in spite of having some serious holes in the talent. now given a team that resembles something decent, cito seems to be working it just fine. could anyone have predicted the team to do so well this year? hardly!

Cito is really good at taking 'troubled' players like Fred Lewis and Yunel Escobar and getting their head straight.

I still don't think he's playing on the teams strengths. How often do you see the jays bunt/ steal / take pitches? hardly ever. They constantly swing for the fences which is why i were a betting man i'd say the jays are in the top 10 in the league in strike outs and fly outs.

Having said that, they are having a great year and there is a lot of hope for the future. Bautista is for sure having a fluke year (he's going to hit 45 HR's this year). That'll never happen again.

I like that they're starting to play around with first base seeing as Overbay will certainly be gone next year, and I also like the deal for a young CF!

Now if only we could build a decent park for them to play in...

LETS GO JAYS!

J.P. Arencibia!

4-5 in MLB debut, including 2 homeruns with a HR coming off the very first pitch of his career.

8 homeruns in total for the Jays today.

Incredible.

Today's game was crazy.  I didn't realize Arencibia was in the line-up until the first inning started so I rushed over and JUST missed his first home run but the rest of the game through the 8th inning was so fun to watch.  The standing ovation for JP after his 2nd homer was really great and well deserved.

I think our only real weaknesses are at first (offensively) and third (defensively).  And I'd like to see them bring in or develop a reliable closer or two.  Outside of the starters (who are pitching great) the pitching is too shaky.

I don't think it's out of the question to think we'll be in the playoffs in two years the way this team is going.

yeah, that was some of the most exciting pitching i've ever seen.

he would have hitters at 0-2 counts and they would be expecting something offspeed and outside the strike zone and he would drill a mid-nineties fastball over the plate and catch them looking. soo good.

and then hit them with off speed and catch the plate when they were sitting on a fastball.  i've never seen anyone pitch quite like that. it was great to watch.

Dallas Braden on the Jays:

"I tried to utilize their aggressiveness against them," Braden said. "I can't give in because they can do some damage. It's almost like staring down the barrel of a beer league team because they can hit home runs almost at will."

hahahahaha. somone's talking some shit!
