we wanted to keep it to two bands, for brevity's sake, also there is so much else going that night...so we went with the older gods, otherwise we would have had all the boys ther...

One of the best parts of the canal/path....that building, the crazy rotating bridge, which I climbed once..the canal opens up into the weird basin, path bends for one of the best views of the city, if you are on the other side...

....this is an old CN train switching/monitoring station i think......on the top floor, they have this massive console that looks like an old mixing board.....and a big screen with a display of the rail lines coming into montreal.....it used to light up.......totally beautiful.....

NUIT BLANCHE IN THE PINES
FEATURING:

THAMES:The duo of Alexander Moskos and Blake Hargreaves. Thames use the limited sonic palette generated by modified disco mixers to create  constantly shifting sonic fields sometimes corralled into bizarre songform. The band's list of influences range from PJ Woodhouse, Royal Trux and Stravinsky to Mathew Brinkman and the Grateful Dead. First Montreal show since June 08. Releases on Brise-Cul, Fluorescent Friends, AA Records, Gods of Tundra, Pasalymany and --.

MONDAY MORNING ERECTION: Monday Morning Erection have been a staple in Montreal's experimental music scene for the last five years. Painter David Lafrance and chef/instrument builder Ghislain Roy use a broad array of electronic devices and turntables to create their defiantly unique and bendy vision . If there was ever a case for applying the process of visual arts to music this is it.  Like  the soundtrack to one of Lanfrances  jungle scene  fantasies come to life.

HISS TRACTS/KARL LEMIEUX:
Local luminary (npi) and structuralist film maker Karl Lemieux meets mysterious Hiss Tracts denizen of the totally unknown MTL Carriage Way scene (yeah that obscure) for audio visual instillation sure to rival any Nuit Blanche instal in terms of pure reductionist sensory blim. Less is more 09, surely. Runs throughout the evening.

THE PINES IS LOCATED at 316 Murray St. # 205 Bring your pals. Everyone invited. FREE. Bands at midnight.
