the style, no, and the guy can't help the way he naturally sings, but the resemblance is sort of eerie.

I think they painted that suit blue and put it on John Leguizamo when they filmed Spawn!

i find the similarity and resemblance quite creepy really.
if i didn't know about the cons already (they ARE on the same label as dallas green, so that makes the scenario quite plausible) i would find this song pretty catchy..
that aside, all i can actually think about is how this dude isn't quite bry webb enough.

We are talking about Dallas Green and not Dallas Wehrle, right? Wehrle's the Constantine.

I was hoping this would be Neil Young covering the Constantines.

These guys sound superficially like the Constantines (I guess) but are way more "produced" and boring (note: I don't think the Constantines are boring but these dudes are).
Also, this song is essentially a rewrite of "Working Fulltime".

no but come on.... the lead singer even has the same guitar as Bry Bry plays a Guild Starfire 4 and this guy plays what looks like an Epi. Sheraton. They do look similar though. I honestly don't mind the Arkells, because I love the Cons, and if I just close my eyes I can pretend they released a new album.

I didn't think it was the same brand just meant it was the same style... I'm sure its just a coincidence he bought that guitar.

the arkells just sound like that without much tinkering. or - it's possible they re-recorded the song for the new album with performances that sound exactly like what they did with me. it's hard to tell - and i don't have a copy of their music here to reference. i can't wait to hear what they do next. they're all super talented dudes... definitely the real deal. Dan Griffin plays keys (and producer-type) in the band and his solo stuff is rad. http://www.myspace.com/dangriffinmusic

I thought the Constantines were their own cover band.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the case. Especially the last time I saw them do a twelve minute version of Arizona.

Ryan, they did re-record this one after the Charlemagne EP. Possibly twice over? I can't check at the moment. What's "eerie" about this song is that--I believe--the verses are the same two chords from the verses of "Nighttime/Anytime" in reverse order (ie. one song goes B->A and the other one goes A->B). Could be talking out of my butt but I do remember checking this at one point. That said, I like Jackson Square a LOT as a pop-rock record, though I have some beef with the mix, and kind of regret that this song is on it. It's a bit of a derivative distraction from the better stuff, and -- perhaps deservedly -- tends to monopolize the conversation about the band. Otherwise I don't find they sound so much like the Cons any more, although I used to be pretty up-in-arms about it. (OK, OK: the beginning of "Deadlines" sounds exactly like the beginning of "Draw Us Lines." And is also track one.)
